On
June 1, 2007, the Austin CPA Chapter,
the Austin Bar Association
and the Travis County Medical
Society kicked off the Fifth Annual Professionals’
Pump-A-Pint Blood Drive Challenge at the Blood
Center of Central Texas. This annual, month-long event has
been going strong for five years now and we hope to continue
the tradition. We’re not sure which profession had the
most blood donors as of this writing, but we think the CPAs
have a great chance of coming out ahead again! We will have
the results in the August newsletter.
The CPAs
representing the profession on June 1 were Immediate Past President,
Nancy Foss, and current President, Jesse Dominguez. We greatly
appreciate their support for this wonderful cause.
The Austin
Chapter held a drive on June 21st and we had a good amount of
people turn out. However, Maxwell,
Lock & Ritter had a fantastic turnout for their drive
on June 20th and 30 people were eligible to donate! Glenn Lewis,
CPA from ML&R has been the key driver in organizing a blood
drive for their firm for the past several years. We cannot thank
him enough!

We
also need to thank everyone who donated for the CPAs this year.
Please continue to give until we issue the professional challenge
again next year!
Every year,
we have this challenge between the attorneys, the CPAs and the
doctors. The real goal, though, is to get people motivated to
donate blood because it really does save a life. We hope that
all blood donors continually give approximately every two months.
One hour every two months can mean a life to someone else. If
you haven’t donated, please consider today and contact
the Blood Center of Central
Texas for more information. |
