During the month of November, the Austin CPA
Chapter sponsored a food drive for the Capital
Area Food Bank of Central Texas – We appreciate everyone
who donated food! For those of you who are not aware of this
great organization, the Food Bank opened in 1981, is a 501(c)
3 non-profit organization that receives, stores and distributes
more than 16 million pounds of food and grocery items to more
than 370 human service agencies in 21 Central Texas counties.
Its service area covers 21,600 square miles in Central Texas.
On Saturday, November 19, some of our CPAs took
time out during the little spare time they have to assist the
Food Bank with its endeavors. Those caring people include:
-
Hilary Mears and John Stack
-
Tim and Dorothy Hald
-
Leah Bush and her daughter
-
Rusty Morrison his daughter, Lucy
-
Roger and Staci Reese with two of their
children
If you see any of the above people, tell them
“thanks”! Our community is a better place because
of them.

Hilary Mears, John Stack, Leah Bush and her
daughter wait patiently for all the volunteers to arrive. Shortly
after everyone signed in, there was a short orientation to inform
the group of how the Food Bank works and what jobs were available
that day.

|
Rusty Morrison and his daughter, Lucy, spent
their time at the Food Bank splitting up 50 pound bags of rice
into smaller 1 pound bags so they could be more easily distributed
to needy families. |

Tim and Dorothy Hald helped out at the Food
Bank and were one of the first set of volunteers to arrive. |

|
Roger and Staci Reese, along with their two
children, were put to work right away in the warehouse. |

Tim Hald was so proud to wear his CPAs Count!
shirt that we just had to take a picture of it. |
|
|

|
Our group mostly worked with non-grocery items
(toothpaste, laundry detergent, etc). These items were placed
in smaller boxes for distribution to different organizations.
Dorothy Hald is seen here packing up boxes while Tim Hald explains
to Roger Reese the process. |

|
John Stack peers into a giant box to see what
needs to be sorted. |

Another proud wearer of the CPAs Count!
shirt – Roger Reese. |

St. Edwards students had a large group
as well and they were responsible for non-perishable food items. |
