Professionals Kick Off Annual Blood Drive Event

The Austin CPA Chapter, the Austin Bar Association and the Travis County Medical Society have joined forces again to bring you the Fifth Annual Professionals Pump-a-Pint Blood Drive Challenge. To help increase participation in this worthy cause, the Austin CPA Chapter is competing against the other professional organizations to recruit the highest percentage of memberships to give blood. The Professionals Blood Drive will take place throughout the month of June 2006 at the Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas at 4300 N. Lamar (slightly North of Central Market). Please call them at (512) 206-1266 to make an appointment.

The CPAs were very close to winning last year – let’s try again this year!

Receive a $25 coupon off an 8-hour CPE course if you donate!

For your convenience, on June 15, 2006, the Austin CPA Chapter is hosting its own blood drive at the Chapter's Training Facility and will be open for you to give blood all day. Free parking is available! Please use the online reservation system and enter the sponsor code: PUMPAPINT. If you have problems, please contact Kaira Tanwar

No matter where you go to give blood, make sure you mention that you’re a CPA!

On June 1, 2006, the Austin CPA Chapter, the Austin Bar Association and the Travis County Medical Society kicked off the Fifth Annual Professionals’ Pump-A-Pint Blood Drive Challenge at the Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas. This annual month-long event has been going strong for five years now and we need your help to continue the tradition. To view participating organizations in your area, please go to Lone Star Donor and type in pumpapint.

The CPAs representing the Austin Chapter at the June 1st kickoff event were immediate Past President Carol Boyd, President-Elect Jesse Dominguez, Current President Nancy Foss and Past President Donna Wesling. They literally gave their blood for the CPA profession!

If you have any questions about donating blood or the Chapter blood drive, please contact Kaira Tanwar.

Here you see our four champions for the blood drive: Carol Boyd, Donna Wesling, Jesse Dominguez and Nancy Foss. They’re smiling even though they’re about to donate blood in just a few minutes.

There was a big turnout for this kick-off event (notice our CPAs in the front row).

We’ve held on to the boxing theme against the other professions. Here Jesse represents the CPAs while donning boxing gloves.

Marshall Cothran, CPA, is in the referee shirt and works for the Travis County Medical Society His blood donation should count for both professions – don’t you think? In any case, he was non-partisan for the “fight” between the lawyers and CPAs. The doctor to represent TCMS was called away on an emergency just before the kick-off.

It’s all good blood (no pun intended) between the doctors, CPAs and attorneys. Jesse Dominguez is pictured here with Marshall Cothran and the attorneys’ representative, David Todd.

Donna Wesling, far left, donates her blood – that’s one for the CPAs! However, Marshall Cothran, far right, is donating double red blood cells – that’s two for the doctors…Hmmm, we need to even out the score.

Here we go – Carol Boyd is donating DOUBLE platelets. That’s two more for the CPAs!

Jesse is also donating for the CPAs – that means we’re ahead.

• Don’t forget that you’ll also receive a stylish t-shirt recognizing that you are a blood donor.
